Balance

Nuts and dried fruit store · WooCommerce · RU/RO/EN

Balance is an online store for nuts, dried fruit and seeds in Moldova. At RocketSEO I ported its React mockup to a classic WordPress and WooCommerce theme and built the features that make it more than a catalog.

The task

The store sells the same product in several weights, to people and to companies, in three languages. The owners also wanted customers to build their own mix and to order together with neighbors to save on delivery, all inside WooCommerce.

  • A custom mix that behaves like one product in the cart, the order and the email
  • Group orders that share one delivery
  • Checkout for both people and companies
  • Russian, Romanian and English with the same catalog

What I built

Build your mix

  • The buyer fills a plate with products from the nuts, dried fruit and seeds categories, and each cell holds a set weight.
  • The price is recalculated on the server from a rate per 100 g, because the browser cannot be trusted with prices.
  • The mix goes into the cart as a hidden container product, and its contents follow it into the order and the emails.

Group delivery

  • The first buyer gets a short invite code as a link. Others can join the group for two hours.
  • People who joined see a banner and a cart block, and the delivery address is filled in from the group.
  • The thank-you page has WhatsApp and Telegram buttons to share the link, and there is a page for expired groups.

Checkout and accounts

  • A switch between a person and a company. Company name, IDNO and legal address are validated, saved to the order and shown in the admin and the emails.
  • Personal discounts that an admin sets per customer, with a separate price cache for variations at each discount level.
  • Payment through maib e-Commerce, delivery in Chișinău or pickup, and shipping rates that follow the language.
  • 37 WooCommerce templates overridden, including a custom order email with a button that also works in Outlook.

Catalog

  • Filters by price, stock, sale and weight that apply instantly, search suggestions over AJAX and a quantity stepper with a weight switch on every card.
  • Favorites kept in the browser, a mega menu and a login modal. jQuery is used only where WooCommerce needs it at checkout.
  • The catalog of about 60 products per language was imported from one three-language CSV that I cleaned with small scripts.

Each page loads only its own CSS and JS. The theme is plain CSS and vanilla JavaScript on top of WooCommerce, with no page builder.
